Russell Brand has revealed his mum Barbara has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The comic told fans of the sad news after he cancelled a sold out gig at Derby’s Assembly Rooms earlier this week due to “family reasons”.
After fans flooded Russell with messages on Twitter, he wrote: “Sorry to eff you around with gigs. My mum ain't well. Tix will be honoured or refunded.”
Then in his vlog, The Trews, he opened up about her illness, saying: “My mother has currently got breast cancer.”
He added that added that his mum is currently attending support groups, as encouraged by the NHS.
It is the third time Barbara has battled cancer, as she beat uterus cancer when Russell was eight, and was diagnosed with breast cancer only a year later.
The pair have always been close, as Barbara raised Russell alone after his dad walked out when the star was just six months old.
