But when a famous person gets some artwork permanently sketched onto their skin it's always interesting and usually a little weird.
Case in point, Justin Bieber who can now say - with 100% conviction - that his body is a work of art, for the Biebs has been tattooed by Banksy. Well, he hasn't, rather he's got a tattoo of one of Banksy's famous art works.
Unfortunately for Bieber an Instagram page purporting to be the famously shy artist - who creates incredible public works of graffiti art - has decided that the troubled pop prince's new tattoo is 'controversial'.
Posting a picture of the Biebs with his new inking, the profile wrote: "Controversial @justinbieber #banksy"
The pop star got the version of the priceless work of art of Banksy's famous balloon girl drawing permanently scrawled on his skin by a tattoo artist in Canada.
At least with those the world's biggest pop brat will be in good company – he's not the only famous person to get inked with regrettable artwork...
Miley Cyrus
Bangerz princess Miley - who is currently worrying parents across the globe by touring it - has had a sad cat tattoo inked on her INSIDE LIP. Ouch!
Miley shared a couple of pictures of her new painful inking to her Instagram account with the captions: "#sadkitty #f***yeahtulsa #lovemoneyparty #freakz."
That seems to cover it.
At least the Wrecking Ball singer has good oral health so at least her dentist will be pleased - if a little shocked the next time he asks her to open wide and he's confronted with Miley's miserable pussycat.

Coming after a session with LA Ink star Kat Von D, the twerking one proudly showed off a picture of her massive arm tattoo of her grandma.

And while the sentiment is touching and the design is quite impressive, it's not to all tastes, obviously, but it's unlikely that Miley cares about what anyone else thinks.

It probably seemed the ultimate way to say “I love you” when One Direction hunk Zayn decided to get a tattoo of girlfriend Perrie Edwards.
And while the One Direction boys like their ink, Zayn, 20, pushed the boat out with his cartoon-style tattoo of the Little Mix star in a beanie and CND T-shirt.
They are now engaged but if they get married Perrie will face looking at her 20-year-old face for the rest of her life.
Even Perrie was speechless at what he had done. Zayn said: “I didn’t tell her before I had it done and surprised her with it when I came back from the States one day. She was shocked at first, but loves it now.”

The 54-year-old said: “On Valentine’s Day that year I said I’m going to save the marriage and got a 12-hour tattoo of her face on my chest. Stupidest thing I ever did.”
Tom then spent 18 months having the tattoo removed.
