-_-''Jennifer Lopez,'' Victoria Beckham and the stars who look younger than ever???

In this era of Instagram, Twitter and generation ‘selfie’ we are more obsessed with youth, looks and sex appeal than ever; why does it all feel like such hard work? How do female celebrities cope with the competition? Is it competition or are they actually in their prime?

If the red carpet at Sundays BAFTAs and the Billboard Music Awards showed us anything, it was that some women are getting better with age; seriously did you see J Lo ? At the age of 44, with a beau who is half her age and wearing a plunging dress like that Versace number, she has never looked better.

Yes, I know we don’t all have a live-in nutritionist, trainer and eyebrow shaper, but we do have some fine examples of beautiful Brit women who are looking even better ten years on.

Davina McCall, aka ' the best bod in the business ', has maintained her fine figure and sense of humour through blood, sweat (a lot of fitness DVDs) and tears – which have also kept her youth.

She is the girl who we (well I definitely do) all want to be mates with, wouldn’t she be the best value after a few white wines? With a fierce career in presenting, a sexy husband, glossy hair and good skin (cue Garnier commercial) she is stellar example of how to age with swagger.

In 2014, McCall’s fellow presenter Fern Britton is elegant, slim and healthy, partly due to losing weight (and garnering as much in column inches.) Yes it was dramatic, yes she lied about having a gastric band, but why is this anyone’s business? It’s not. It’s private.

We all try and make the right choice so we feel strong, confident and attractive; Fern was always the sugar in my tea during her This Morning years.

Somewhere between Countdown and Loose Women Carol Vorderman got body confident, fun and feisty. Always known and loved as the cherub-faced mathematician , it’s her intelligence, risky sense of style and her ability to laugh of such accolades as ‘Rear of the Year’ that make her a standout woman at 53.

Getting older has never looked easier and if anyone is just hitting their stride, it’s Vorderman.

All those years of being Sporty Spice definitely paid off because she is toned, trim and super-stylish.

Having turned 40 earlier this year, Mel C looks great and has left her three stripe tracksuits, trainers and high ponytails in the early noughties.

Actually, talking about the Spice Girls, I think age, time and new trends have been kind to all of them.

Like her or not, you can’t deny that Vogue cover girl Victoria Beckham is a modern force of fashion, catwalks and the head girl of the WAG pack fifteen years on; now that’s girl power.

Let’s bring this up to speed with how fantastic Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman looked on the red carpet at the BAFTAS, right?

The Strictly Come Dancing co-hosts looked cool, calm and confident, an air one only has when they are at the top of their game; isn’t that the best part of ageing?

And now I am thinking about it, Lisa Snowdon is another woman who is flying high in her career , having recently won the prestigious Breakfast Show of the Year Awards at the Radio Academy Awards plus she can count George Clooney as an ex – imagine!

After reading into what these women have achieved, their fashion highs, career fails and beauty mishaps, a decade really is a long time to make changes; seriously, was 2004 ten years ago?
