Randy Orton has won the WWE Elimination Chamber 2014 match, beating out Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Christian, Cesaro, and John Cena. But next up Randy Orton will have to face Dave Batista at WrestleMania 30 since he was the winner of the 2014 Royal Rumble.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, tonight’s WWE Elimination Chamber PPV will likely be the last of its kind because the WWE Network is launching shortly. Subscribers will have access to all of the WWE pay per view events for a measly $9.99 per month, which is quite a bargain considering the average PPV match costs $50. The WWE is also offering many internet streaming options via video game consoles, smart TVs, phones, and tablets.
Daniel Bryan and Sheamus entered the WWE Elimination Chamber with a severe disadvantage since both of them suffered arm injuries in the previous months. Sheamus even underwent surgery before having his limbs stomped on repeatedly during Friday’s Smackdown. Bryan also suffered the fate of be forced to fight against two opponents back to back even after the first one left him nearly listless. The only reason Bryan “won” the match was because Kane intervened with a choke slam, which caused Bryan’s opponent to be disqualified.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2014
Sheamus and Cesaro began the match, with Daniel Bryan following close behind in third. Considering how the WWE treated Bryan on Friday with Smackdown (making him take on fresh competitor with no rest) it seems no surprise they’d make him start earlier on.
After about 10 minutes of back and forth blows all three men were on the ground. Christian followed shortly later, only to get floored as well. John Cena is the fifth man in and he was noticeably eager to start, going after Cesaro only to get attacked by Bryan.
Then Randy Orton entered the match with the other five men all down on the ground. Within minutes both Sheamus and Christian are eliminated and Cena gets Cesaro to tap out. But everything goes poorly from there, with Cena getting knocked out shortly later, leaving Orton and Bryan
At this point Kane began interfering in the match, which seems like almost a repeat of what happened on Friday night Smackdown. Personally I predicted a win for DB because of this, but it was not to be.
Bryan tried ending Orton with a suplex from the top rope but couldn’t manage the pin. Kane ends up on the ground but eventually gets up, even grabbing the referee at one point. DB doesn’t play nice and kicks Kane in the head.
Orton tries a RKO but Bryan kicks out. But once again Kane attacks Bryan, which allows Orton to try another RKO, which is the winning move! Needless to say, Daniel Bryan wasn’t too happy with the way things turned out in the Elimination Chamber and he leaves it shaking his head. The fans seemingly are known too please, as well.
Besides the main event, let’s cover what else happened.
Curtis Axel & Ryback vs. Goldust & Cody Rhodes
Although early on Axel was playing with Goldust the fight turned around pretty quick. Eventually, the fight devolved into a four man fight but Cody used Crossroads for the win. The crowd wasn’t exactly enthusiastic with how this one played out.
Big E vs Jack Swagger
Short version: boot to the head! Big E retains his title after getting out of the Patriot Lock near the end.
The Usos vs The New Age Outlaws
This match seemed kind of laggy, which is kind of atypical of the Outlaws. Eventually, they manage to distract the Usos long enough for a pin.
Darren Young vs. Titus O’Neil
A Clash of the Titus finishes this one.
The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family
This particular matched has been teased for weeks now and fans of the Wyatts were looking forward to it. Chants followed all six men as they battled it out on the stage for one of the longer matches of the night (compared to all the others besides the Elimination Chamber).
The highlights had all six men battling at the same time and at one point Rollins is tossed onto the Spanish announcer’s table. (As CM Punk would say, to use the English announcer’s desk would be using the wrong table!) In the end, the Wyatts land the Sister Abigail for the win.
Dave Batista VS Alberto Del Rio
As everyone knows by now, Dave Batista has been putting a beating on Alberto Del Rio every time they’ve met since the Animal’s return to the WWE. Guess who won… again.
Maybe it was supposed to be a joke, but ADR showed up wearing a neck brace and using crutches, which he attacked Batista with before the bell even rang. Overall, the match was fairly short lived, lasting about six minutes and ending with Batistabomba.
This probably wasn’t much of a surprise since Batista is supposed to challenge tonight’s main event’s winner for the WWE Heavyweight Championship belt. The main match result was also in line with the way Dave Batista returned, since the first thing Batista did was challenge Orton for the belt… while looking like a metrosexual fashionista.
