Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker have been working hard on their marriage ever since the allegations of an affair with a 25-year-old youth worker surfaced and some feared they were heading straight for a messy divorce.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, way back in 2009 sources said JSP was coming close to dumping her husband:
“Sarah Jessica is determined to get her own place and bring down the curtains on her marriage. They’re essentially living separate lives. The truth is, Sarah and Matthew still do love and care about each other, they just aren’t in love, and they don’t want to waste any more time trying to repair something that’s irreparable.”
Fortunately, the rumor mill was wrong on this one. They managed to stick together for the birth of their twins, Marion and Tabitha, who were born to the couple by a surrogate mother. Otherwise, the Hollywood couple have been living a low profile and other sources claim Sarah even cut back on her career to focus on her marriage during those tough times. Instead of taking on big movies like Sex and the City, Sarah has been doing theater and fashion work that do not take her away from the family as much (the recently engaged F1 racer Jenson Button suffered similar relationship issues with his girlfriend Jessica).
The source says Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker had to sit down and work out their marriage issues, but both agreed they wanted to stay together, and not just for the kids’ sake. Now it’s reported the two are “happier than ever” and they’re both downsizing their work schedules in order to ensure they never grow apart again.
Something must have been working because the first and last time Sarah commented on her relationship publicly last year she positively gushed over her husband:
“I love Matthew Broderick Call me crazy, but I love him. We can only be in the marriage we are. We’re very devoted to our family and our lives. I love our life. I love that he’s the father of my children, and it’s because of him that there’s this whole other world that I love.”
For once it’s good to hear about a Hollywood couple keeping their heads and hearts together when going through trying times. Nowadays many seem to think marriage requires the fleeting emotion of “true love” but they’ve defied this wrong idea. What do you think about Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker as a couple?
