CM Punk appears to be gone from WWE for good, or at least long enough to have Vince McMahon very worried about the card for the upcoming Wrestlemania XXX.
The wrestler abruptly left WWE a few weeks ago, telling officials to take him off the card for upcoming events and then splitting. Though many expected him to come back, his extended absence reportedly was WWE officials worried that wrestling’s biggest event is falling apart.
The blog Cageside Seats reports on the rumors, saying the CM Punk situation has forced Vince McMahon to change plans on the fly:
“We mentioned before that WWE officials felt as though their carefully crafted WrestleMania plans had gone “off the rails” with Batista’s return falling flat, CM Punk walking out, and Daniel Bryan getting a far stronger fan reaction than anticipated. So what is their solution? Well, more part timers of course. It is said that it was already in the plans for Rob Van Dam to return in time for a match at WrestleMania, and now McMahon wants Chris Jericho back as well. The idea currently on the table is for RVD and Jericho to feud with each other as they build towards a WrestleMania match.”
There are still some who believe that the CM Punk situation is all part of the WWE script. The wrestler has made public statements against WWE and Vince McMahon on the past, which was considered to be within the wrestling league’s program. But as CM Punk remains away from WWE, there are growing doubts over whether he will be back or not.
Though the situation is still shrouded in rumors, his week WWE broke a three-week silence on CM Punk. The organization released a statement to f4wonline.com that read, “WWE has officially stated that CM Punk has not been released.”
Vince McMahon himself has been silent on CM Punk, though if the situation remains unresolved he may be forced into action soon to save the WrestleMania XXX card.
